In case you weren't entertained, the Portland Thorns gave a good showdown last Friday when they faced Gotham FC.
The game had many elements that made it unforgettable. As a matter of fact, it was one of the best games – if not the best – they played this year.
What made it so special? Leaving aside bad news such as Jayden Perry's red card or former Thorn Emily Sonnett's injury, there were many good things Portland did on the turf that made them look like a playoff team.
Besides that, you have to add Morgan Weaver's return to the pitch after 621 long days (didn't it feel like eternity?) and the debut of Nina Nijstad. We can add Renee Lyles' first start of the season, and her goal plus assist.

The Bad
Let's start with the bad. We already mentioned the injuries and the red card that was shown to Jayden Perry in the second half.
