The third year of Phil Neville's tenure as Portland Timbers head coach has started about as poorly as possible. Despite holding a 2-1 lead in the 89th minute, the Timbers found a way to concede two goals on the road in Vancouver last weekend, resulting in their fourth loss in six games to begin the 2026 MLS season.
At Providence Park, on social media, and in our very own comment section, the noise surrounding Neville's position with the club continues to get louder and louder. On Tuesday, in a rare mid-season media availability at Portland's training facility in Beaverton, OR, general manager Ned Grabavoy spoke publicly about a season in danger of derailing before it leaves the station.
