Today, the NWSL announced that forward Sophia Wilson has been issued an additional one-match suspension stemming from 'violent conduct' that occurred in the 22nd minute of Portland Thorns’ match against Boston Legacy FC on October 3.
After review from NWSL Disciplinary Committee, her suspension will now be two total games: October 18 at Bay FC and October 23 vs North Carolina Courage - she'll miss the team's final home match.
"Wilson was issued a red card at the time of the incident, resulting in an automatic one-match suspension. Upon further review, the Disciplinary Committee determined that the incident rose to the level of a violation of Section 12.4.11, “Major Game Misconduct,” of the League Operations Manual."
