Last month, the Portland Thorns closed the first part of the year with a top of the table clash. Portland hit first, then Utah doubled down after that to take the lead. The Royals almost got the three points, but a goal for Portland in stoppage time helped the Thorns to keep the unbeaten streak at home alive.
By this point, coach Robert Vilahamn has made it very clear that he feels comfortable with the 4-2-3-1 formation and so it wasn't a surprise to see him go with it once again.
