Today, the Portland Thorns announced that they have signed forward and rising star Pietra Tordin to a contract extension through the 2029 season.
“Pietra has established herself as one of the NWSL’s brightest young talents and has been enjoying a tremendous season,” President and General Manager of Soccer Operations Jeff Agoos said.
“She has the talent and character to become an important part of this club's future. She's embraced every opportunity and made a real impact on the field while bringing an infectious energy to our locker room. This extension reflects our belief in her potential and our excitement about the role she'll continue to play as we build to compete for titles.”
After a successful three seasons at Princeton, the forward opted to turn professional after her junior season. In January 2025, she signed her first contract as a rookie with the Portland Thorns. Her original contract ran through 2026 with a player option for 2027.
In her second professional season, she has shined bright. This 2026 season, she leads the league with six assists and is second overall for goal contributions.
Since the 2025 season, she has earned 39 caps (23 starts) and added eight goals.
Internationally, Tordin has represented the USYNT at the U-20 and U-23 levels and is knocking on the door with the senior team. In January 2025, she received a Futures Camp call-up from the USWNT.
Agoos and the front office have made it clear what their intentions are in attack. Reilyn Turner, Caiya Hanks, and Morgan Weaver are all signed through the 2028 season. Tordin, 22, will continue to be a building block for the years to come.
