Coming off a 4-1 win at Orlando Pride, the Portland Thorns vanquished downward trends that had caused many road bumps along the season.

After the 1-1 home draw vs Chicago Stars, PTFC will return to Providence Park with one thing in mind: victory over Houston Dash.

This is the first matchup between the two sides in 2026.

After four-consecutive losses, Houston are coming off a solid 2-1 road win over Boston Legacy. Now they'll look to carry the momentum ahead.

The visitors have a completely different look compared to the 2025 season - now being led by a talented young core.

Both teams have struggled with possession as they are both ranked in the bottom three (44.9% and 46.1%), only ahead of Racing Louisville.

Houston Dash Midfielder | Linda Ullmark: After her time at the U-20 World Cup with the USYNT, she is set to make her return. It'll be impossible to miss her on the pitch, as she will cover tons of ground and look to be a playmaker off turnovers and on the counter.

How impressive is this young core for the Houston Dash?

Portland Thorns Defender | Carolyn Calzada: The rookie defender has lined up at both FB and CB. Although it was a struggle in the beginning, she has quietly improved as the season has progressed.

It's clear the PTFC coaching staff believe in this player and will continue to give her opportunities moving forward. Her unique trait that separates from others? Speed.

Her ability to cover for Jayden Perry and Reyna Reyes or Marie Müller has been crucial.

Portland Thorns Attacker | Pietra Tordin: Make no mistake, the forward turned midfielder has been impactful even when she isn't scoring or playmaking, but it's been over five games since her last goal contribution.

She's due for a breakout game and it could come tomorrow.

Jayden "JP" Perry: "We know they like to build in that three-back and send an outside back high to load the front line, so we worked on that a lot this week coming off Orlando, since they did something similar. It's about figuring out when to hard-shift or when we need a winger to drop lower. They've been really good finishing games and picking up points late, so having that complete 90-minute performance and staying locked in until the final whistle is key."

Isa took another step today in training — she's not back for the roster this week, but hopefully she can be back for the next game against Boston. Julie is in full training, so it's more a question of whether it's Boston or after the national team break before she can pick up minutes. There's a really good focus on them right now because they're very close."
