Today, the Portland Thorns have announced that USWNT legend, Tobin Heath will be honored ahead of match against Denver Summit FC on Saturday, August 22.
The club legend will sign officially sign a one-day contract to retire as a Portland Thorn.
Heath represented the Rose City from 2013-2020, earning 73 appearances (66 starts). She helped PTFC lift the 2016 NWSL Shield and NWSL Championships twice in 2013 and 2017. The winger is still the club's all-time regular season assist leader with 24.
Her mark on the NWSL is still recognized today as she is tied for the single-season league assists mark with 10 (2016) and named to the Best XI three times (2016, 2018, 2019)
Internationally, she has represented the USWNT in 181 matches and at four Olympic Games and three World Cups, scoring 36 goals and providing 42 assists.. Heath is a two-time World Cup champion and an Olympic Gold Medalist.
This year, Tobin Heath was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
An honor that was long awaited and deserved, will now come to fruition at Providence Park.
