It has been 345 days since the Portland Thorns last suffered a loss at Providence Park, and this afternoon they look to keep the streak alive as they host the Washington Spirit in a top of the table NWSL clash.

The Portland Thorns have their full arsenal available today, in what should be good form after a nine day break from game action.

Despite the dwindling number of players that remain on the SEI list for the Thorns, they are joined again this week by Isa Obaze who is listed as unavailable this afternoon with a thigh injury.

Reilyn Turner, however, will be available for the second consecutive match after missing nearly six weeks with a lingering knee injury. Although she was available for selection last week versus Gotham, Turner still awaits her return to the pitch and Thorns faithful await her return to the scoresheet.

Home Field Advantage

The Portland Thorns have yet to lose a match at home in the 2026 calendar year, in fact the last time the Thorns suffered a loss at Providence Park was nearly a year ago – in September of 2025.

Since dropping the 3-0 shutout at home back in 2025 the Thorns have recorded nine wins and four draws in front of their home crowd – a stat they take much pride in.

With a handful of home matches left in the 2026 regular season, it's almost an unfair advantage for the Thorns as they edge closer in reach of an NWSL Shield, and look to secure their playoff seeding.

Thorns are hot

Not only are the Thorns hot at home, they are also undefeated in their last four matches, most recently recording a draw at Gotham against the reigning NWSL Champions and current NWSL Shield favorite.

This week, however, the Thorns will be matching up against the Washington Spirit in a two versus five battle.

The Thorns last met the Spirit in the season opener at Audi Field in Washington D.C., where Olivia Moultrie was the lone scorer as they stole a rode match with a 1-0 score line.

Now six months later, the Moultrie-less Thorns will look to complete the season sweep of the team who bested them in last year's NWSL Semifinals.

Double Espresso returns

As I'm sure you already know, two of the most dynamic forwards in the game of women's soccer, Trinity Rodman and Sophia Wilson will be taking the pitch against one another this afternoon.

Standing at number four and five in the NWSL's Golden Boot race – Wilson has 11 goals on the season, and Rodman trails with 10. It is without a doubt that their craftiness will be on display this afternoon, in what has the potential to be one of the most fun games to watch this season.
